Since when was sports NOT entertainment?

I think the Mets should make a serious move for A-Rod. With the opening of their new stadium, they need a marquee player. This will help them take the back pages from the Yankees (who always seem to dominate them, even in 2006 when the Mets were arguably the better team).

Either A-Rod or David Wright can move to first base. I would be more inclined to ask A-Rod to make the switch, since he's switched positions once before. He's such an excellent fielder I think he can play any infield position.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

He will be in a front of a mirror.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

WHY NOT IN PHILADELPHIA THE PHILLIES WILL HAVE THE BEST INFIELD EVER IN BASEBALL HISTORY, A/ROD ROLLINS UTLEY AND HOWARD

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

Scott Borrrras?if Hell where painted green that's were he would be sending A-Rod

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

I couldn't care less about Pay-Rod or any other paycheck player that Scott Borass (no misp) represents. HUGE waste of money - anyone would be easily better served to get two solid players at the same price.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

Finally some good news for the Yankees. Pay-Rod opting out is the best possible news for the team. Just as he has done in the four short years in New York he once again shows how very little class he truly has by making this earth shattering anouncement during the world series. A-Rod is not a team player, nor a clutch hitter. What he can do is hit home runs, that's it, all he brings to the table. Look at Mike Lowell, what a great team player & a clutch hitter. Wish he would join the Yankees. A-rod is the new barry bonds of baseball, so the giants sound like a perfect fit for him; and the fans there are bound to root for him, since after watching the way the worshiped Mr. steroids (barry bonds), i know they no nothing of baseball other then homeruns.

Its just plain insulting to the whole sport of baseball to try to usurp the world series victory of the red sox, by making a contract announcement like that. I think that goes to show how much of a cancer this guy would be on any team. That right there is another good reason s.f. would be a good fit, they have had a malignant tumor playing there for years getting special treatment. By opting out, he's doing the Texas Rangers a big favor and frees up (20 million a year) cash so they can sign a few free agents or trade for better pitching.

I suspect A-Rod wants to go back to playing SS. Even if he takes a cut in pay for Manny money, it still might be too steep for many teams. NY or Boston are the only realistic cities I see him going to. They have enough additional outside income to meet the salary demand. SF has a chance if A-Rod plays for Barry Bonds money (18-22 million a year).

Think the bigger questions is if A-Rod brings people to the ballpark (sell-outs) and creates national interest in the team and if reaching and winning the World Series is A-Rod's ultimate goal. Right now it seems he's more interested in making the most cash and setting personal records. Good business sense, but that doesn't endear him to passionate and hardcore fans. Teams want financial flexibility to get players they may want to make a stretch run or get them to the playoffs/WS.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

A ROD had great season. Now that he is gone hopefully, Joe Girardi will be able to form those 9 players into a team.
However, the whole thing is not A-Rod's fault. Evetyone who knows baseball knows pitching wins championships not 3rd baseman. The team A-Rod ends up with will never win a W.S. and A-Rod will go down in history as one of the best players never to win a W.S. title. It would be nice to see the Yankees get into the leauge championship or W.S. next year without A Rod.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

If the Red Sox won the bidding for A-Rod it would be a total reverse of the Bambino Curse becuase now the best player in baseball moves from NY to Boston. If I were a Yankees fan I would be very afraid - 86 years without a world series!

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

I am a die hard Yankee fan,and had a good feeling that D-ROD would opt out.Good riddance to him.The Yankees will do better without him. With the cash that they save from not re-signing him they should upgrade pitching and make some quality trades.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

I wouldn't mind seeing him go to the Met's. If he's willing to do a position change even better. Although to be honest, I would like to see the Met's pick up some starting pitching. A-Rod proceeded to hit meaningless home runs and drive in meaningless runs in Texas as the team fell apart around him. Then he went to New York where he did the same thing, except in October, when it mattered. Now he wants out, Scott Boras had convinced him that someone will pay him thirty million a year to hit meaningless home runs and drive in meaningless runs...in April. Sad to say, I think someone will.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

I hope the Yankees really stick to thier guns and move on without A-Rod. As great a player as he is, I beleive the team will do fine without him. I would love to see them focus more on the bullpen. Resigning Posada and Mariano should be the teams top priorities, followed by doing something to strengthen the mediocre (at best) bullpen if Joba heads to the rotation in 2008. Let A-Rod sign a record deal with a West Coast team and languish in meaningless August and September baseball. I really beleive that if A-Rod miraculously returns to the Yanks, they won't win a World Series until he departs.

Where will Alex Rodriguez land?

does anyone remember that the rangers were still paying about 80 % of the salary for A-rod? The Yankees only had an investment of around 5 mill.
That won't change their payout that much.
